ty's first field trip

ty's school is in the process of getting accredited as an international baccalaureate school. they have these units of inquiry which then determines how they will learn all other subjects. ty's first field trip was to visit different homes to see how people live. i got these pictures from another mom.

it's so interesting that ty goes to school with kids from all different backgrounds. julian's mom is indonesian, but from singapore. julian's dad is egyptian, but from canada. they most recently moved from germany.

primary program

his part was: i know Jesus loves me because He is nice to me and He blesses my family.

he also got to sing a solo of his favorite song: I love to see the temple.
he did great! when i asked him about it afterwards, he said that he was happy, but his "heart was going really fast."

i couldn't be a prouder momma. i feel so lucky that he's a part of our little family.

WISE LITTLE MONKEYS

Malia and I made a deal years ago that if she would take the primary responsibility of getting the boys the priesthood, I would take over and have the primary responsibility to see them to temple marriage--then I figure they are on their own for the most part.

So far she is doing a great job. I spent the past 3 days with them while Malia went to the Philippines and these 'two' wise monkeys really are good boys. Ty embodies all three virtues completely--he always has and I hope always will. Rhett has got the first two down and as soon as he starts pronouncing the "r" in fork, he'll be 100% as well.

gobble what?

in our family, the pies are the star of the show. thanksgiving isn't thanksgiving without (oh let's say conservatively) ten pies. you have to have enough for first round pies. second round pies. and breakfast the next morning pies.

moving here, i knew there was no way i would have ten pies. i would settle for three.

and my speciality chocolate haupia.

i'm going to cebu this weekend so i ordered our thanksgiving feast from ty's school. not exactly the same as what we're used to. but it would do. this is what i ordered:

sauteed green beans
vegetable stuffing
maple-glazed turkey breast
carmalized sweet potato
mashed potato with gravy
cranberry sauce
apple pie
pumpkin pie

i pick it up and get this.
they forgot.
the.
pies!

luckily steve and the boys will be attending a proper feast while i'm away.
and i will be celebrating thanksgiving in an entirely new way. {more to come}

prom night

our ward is so much fun. everyone got dressed up. there were some awesome costumes outfits, lots of makeup and tons of "twisty" dancing. LOL!

oh baby! look at my hot date! i have never even seen this face before. his talents never cease to amaze me. and that mustache! whoo! good thing it's prom night.

p.s. this was our first date in 5 months. i had so much fun and laughed so hard.

he has my heart

ty is a sweet, sweet child.

i'm lucky to be his primary teacher at church. one sunday, the lesson was on service. we talked about different ways to serve. we cut out hearts and they were supposed to give their hearts away when they did an act of service.

going to the grocery store is kind of a big deal. i stock up on items, since i really only get to the store once a week. i had the boys with me the day i went. when we got home, ty was so helpful, even giddy, and insistent on bringing all the bags up by himself. and there were a lot. however, he did let me help him with the 3 heavy bags of fresh juice though.

that night as i was going to sleep, i found this:

it was too quiet. i found rhett on our bed with ty's sticker stash from the bus auntie.

a saturday night dinner

we introduced mcdonalds to ty when he was about three years old.

rhett just turned two and he eats at those darn magnetic golden arches about once a week. not pictured, but i guess it doesn't help that one of the only drive-through places is 2.6 km away from our front door and on the way home from steve's work.

the usge: quarter pounder meal (with coke) for me, big mac meal (with coke) for steve, two chicken nugget happy meals with apple dippers and milk for the boys. hot fudge sundaes if we're lucky.
